Neutral Nursery with Color Accents
I had the exciting task of turning our playroom into a nursery/playroom on a budget. Luckily I could never give away any of my childrens baby things so the only things I had to purchase was a rocking chair and a toy chest. Not that I’m planning on No.4 but the blues in a neutral nursery like this can easily be swapped out for pink or teal for a girl.
At first I upgraded the bedroom cupboards. You can find the how to here.
I painted theses crates white and made a ottoman/toy chest of one. The How To for that you can find here.
I painted this little cupboard which used to be white then black and now white again. I had a compactum before but you only need a compactum for about a year so I was happy to get rid of it. It is really a piece of furniture that will never do double duty in home once baby is big. Crates doubling as storage and display.
Odd door knobs I had lying around screwed into a piece of wood that came from the base of a bed doubles as storage and display as well. The laundry bag is just a cream pillowcase with string sewn in for gathering. Rocking chair and footstool with scatter cushions as padding for comfort. Here is a tutorial on the footstool. The rocking chair and storage crate it the only new purchases in this room for furniture.
Only the bedding and mosquito net is new and I searched about 50 shops for neutral bedding. The letters on the wall is wooden letters that I decorated with odds I found in my arts and crafts box. Wood letters you can get at most art supply stores.
Cream curtains with white wooden rods and plush tie backs. This is the How To on the plush curtain tiebacks. So for now any decorating in this room is done until I need to redecorate to accommodate a toddler. Can hardly wait.
